Horse Leader Training

  • The Right Step, Inc. 5200 West Coal Mine Avenue Littleton, CO, 80123 United States (map)

Horse Leader Training at TRS is designed for volunteers who want to build confidence working directly with our horses during adaptive horsemanship lessons. Led by our Volunteer Trainer, Regina, this hands-on training covers safe horse handling, turnout and bring-in procedures, basic grooming, proper tacking up, and how to prepare for horse leading during lessons.

Horse Leaders play a vital role in our programs by guiding and supporting our horses while participants focus on building skills and confidence. This training ensures volunteers understand barn safety protocols, horse behavior basics, and the responsibilities involved in leading during mounted sessions.

No prior horse experience is required. Even if you don’t consider yourself a “horse person,” this training is a welcoming and supportive way to gain hands-on experience, learn new skills, and become more involved in our program. It’s a great opportunity to grow your confidence while supporting both our horses and participants.

Please note: Volunteers must complete all required paperwork and register for the training through VicNet prior to attending.

Current volunteers reserve your space here: https://www.volgistics.com/vicnet/login
