About the Position
TRS is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Adaptive Riding Instructor to join our team in Sedalia, Colorado.
In this role, you'll plan and facilitate individual and group adaptive riding and ground-based horsemanship lessons for clients ages 4 through adult, including individuals with disabilities and other special populations.
You'll work closely with our clients, horses, volunteers, and fellow instructors to create safe, engaging, and individualized experiences that support each client's unique goals.
This is a wonderful opportunity to combine your horsemanship experience, teaching skills, and passion for helping others in a collaborative and supportive barn environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, facilitate, and evaluate individual and group adaptive riding and ground-based lessons tailored to each client's abilities and goals.
Maintain accurate lesson plans, progress notes, and client documentation accessible to appropriate staff.
Select suitable horses and tack based on each client's individual needs.
Help ensure that horses participating in lessons are appropriately trained, physically capable, and well suited to their assigned activities.
Maintain current PATH Intl. certification and complete required continuing education.
Conduct lessons in accordance with PATH Intl. standards and safety guidelines.
Follow organizational policies and procedures while contributing to a positive, welcoming environment for clients, volunteers, staff, and horses.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Current PATH Intl. certified instructor credential (CTRI)
Current CPR and First Aid certification
Extensive horse handling and riding experience
Intermediate or higher proficiency in horse care and riding
Previous teaching experience
Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
A positive, patient, and enthusiastic approach to working with individuals of varying abilities
Preferred:
PATH Intl. Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning (ESMHL) certification
PATH Intl. Mentor certification
We're looking for someone who is not only knowledgeable and experienced but also brings creativity, compassion, flexibility, and a genuine love for both people and horses.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay: $20–$25 per hour, depending on experience and certifications
Schedule: Part-time, with weekday and weekend hours available
