Big Changes Ahead: We’re Moving to a Barn of Our Own
If you’ve visited The Right Step, Inc. (TRS), you know that our seven horses are in stalls at the west end of Denver Equestrian Riding School.
Not only do we share one end of the barn, but we share the arena with the riding school, too. Some days, we can use half the arena. Some days we can’t use it at all. Classes for our clients are based around the schedule of the riding school, and the reason we don't teach clients at specific days and times.
But we have great news… our sharing days are ending soon!
TRS is moving to a big, beautiful, brand-new barn of our own, where we will be the only tenant.
On the Denver Polo Club property in Sedalia, our barn will be the second ranchette built by Of Horse You Can, owned by sisters Erica Sachs and Tara Hieb, and leased to us. (The first is already built and is leased to a hunter/jumper trainer.)
Tara and Erica are building and leasing the ranchettes to trainers and programs like ours who don't have the funds to build their own facility or who don't want to rely on a sponsor.
These ranchettes are impressive, too. Ours will be a 20-stall barn with an attached indoor arena, an outdoor arena, and turnout pens. We can have more than seven horses! We can serve more clients and schedule classes throughout the week and the weekend.
Currently, we provide 40-50 lessons per week. In this new facility, we will gradually increase our lessons to 80 lessons per week in the first year, serving a significant number of people on our 305-person wait list. And who knows how much we can grow in future years?
In this new space, we are looking forward to new possibilities for additional programs, including educational events, corporate trainings, and professional organization certifications.
In fact, because of the location on the Denver Polo Club grounds, we will also be able to attract more corporate partners because of the increased visibility of our program to a larger audience.
As with any big change, we know that we will face and overcome many challenges, including finding additional funding needed to run and maintain our own facility.
But we are ready to face whatever comes our way because the future is bright and filled with possibilities.
Are you ready to help make this a reality? Our fundraising goal is $150,000 to pay for the equipment, furnishings, and operational infrastructure needed to run and maintain this new barn. Please view our Amazon Wish List or donate today!
